Tulip Festival Noordoostpolder a great success under new management

Noordoostpolder – Positive sounds are coming from the management of the Tulip Festival Noordoostpolder. Last Sunday, May 3rd, was the final day of the 17-day festival. The tulip fields were looking beautiful, the weather was good, and visitors appreciated the new setup, which featured multilingual information about the tulip sector and the region.

Rutten wins prize for most beautiful mosaic artwork
Between 17 April and 3 May, more than 60,000 visitors followed the Van Staveren Autoroute (102 km), cycled the Specsavers Fietsroute (33 km), took part in the children's activities with Bollie de Beer, and explored various Tulip Festival locations, including the new festival location Tulpenpluktuin Marknesse. In addition, tulip mosaics were on display in 10 villages. The prize for the most beautiful mosaic was presented on Sunday during the closing event at the Tulpenbelevingsveld to Rutten.

Unique activities, such as the Tulip Flight Route by helicopter pilot Pieter Veendrick, were very popular. The Tulip Species Garden, which showcased more than 2,000 historic tulip varieties, also attracted a large number of visitors.

“An edition that leaves you wanting more.”

The organisation looks back on a successful edition that surpassed expectations. “With a group of over 75 enthusiastic volunteers and ‘Friends of’, we have put the Noordoostpolder on the map. We are buzzing with ideas to tackle it again next year. It was an edition that left us wanting more,” said chairman Rob Renne.

The new route and information app achieved a number 1 position in the category Events in Google Play and was installed over 21,000 times.

More volunteers wanted
The festival is growing, and so the organisation is looking for extra volunteers for the next edition. Helping hands are needed for the PR, Bollie de Beer, and parking assistance committees. Do you have another good idea you would like to contribute to? Let us know via info@tulpenfestival.nl.
