This is a Nobel bulb planter for planting in open ground (without netting). The track width is 1.50 metres and planting is done in 5 rows. There are consequently 5 planting feet underneath that “cut” through the ground and can plant the bulbs at the desired depth. A supply of bulbs is placed in the hopper, and by means of the slider, wiping roller, and the speed of the conveyor belt under the hopper, a uniform supply of bulbs is created.
About this bulb planting machine
The stream of bulbs is divided into 5 portions. There is a difference in the distribution per row, with more bulbs going into the outer rows than the middle rows. The number of pieces per metre of bed is monitored using a counting machine. This, along with the depth, is regularly checked. Depending on the size of the bulb, a planting depth of approximately 10 cm above the bulb is maintained. If necessary, rye is sown over the planted bed. The rye develops quickly in the autumn, and its root system ensures a good structure of the topsoil, preventing it from becoming compacted.
